Youth Empowerment Network (YEN)
Youth Empowerment Network (YEN): South Africa is one of the countries in the world that has taken a decisive step to promote Youth Entrepreneurship, and yet we are one of the poor performers in Youth Enterprise Development. However, this Network is beyond youth entrepreneurship. We believe that we have done very well in articulating the need and desire to have our youth as a priority in the development of the country and positioning it among the community of nations in the world. This is a process. We dare not stop advancing the youth development issues.
Quote from Napoleon Hill’s Gold Standard: “There are many travellers on the road that leads to happiness. You will need their cooperation, and they will need yours. And there will be generations after ours. Their lot in life will depend largely on the inheritance we leave to them. We must become bridge-builders, not only for the present generation but for generations yet unborn” Teamwork, Napoleon Hill’s Gold Standard.
The future of our country and the world is in the hands of the youth. The society that does not invest time, energy, resources and efforts in its youth does not have the future. The adult members of the society have a duty to pave the way for the youth to take over from them. This includes providing education and conducting development programmes for the youth.
We have created this network to add to the country’s efforts in developing and empowering our youth. Our direct empowerment intervention is by providing this platform with the specific objective of empowering the youth in all aspects of their private and professional lives. We also make it clear that we regard the youth as equally free to participate in all the interventions about their development and empowerment. There is nothing about the youth that we must do without them. They know their needs better than anyone of us, the adults. They should be assisted in getting ready to assume their future responsibilities in taking the country forward.
